Stuart has been writing and performing songs on acoustic guitar for many years. Originally performing in the folk clubs of Leicester, he now lives in Horsham, West Sussex.
His songs are drawn from a variety of sources including; arrangements of traditional British folk songs; arrangements of lyrics taken from broadside ballads; traditional-style gospel and shaker songs and finally, his own compositions. His inspiration for the latter is often traditional wisdom stories from the world.
What unites his material is his interest in how traditional and contemporary acoustic music and stories can commentate and shed light on the human condition.
Stuart runs the Billingshurst Chapel Folk Club.
When time allows, he builds his own guitars, after being tutored some years ago by the exceptionally talented luthier, Nick Benjamin.
Primary school teaching still (thankfully) pays the bills.
